FosterParentCollege.com® Updates Advanced Parenting Workshops

February 18, 2013

Eugene, OR — The popular online Advanced Parenting Workshops on FosterParentCollege.com have been updated to make them more convenient. Originally, workshops had start and stop dates and spanned three weeks. Now workshops are continuous, so participants can jump in whenever they want and have 30 days to finish.

These workshops dig deeper into a topic than the regular self-paced classes. In each, participants begin by viewing the self-paced class on that subject. A case study is introduced. With the help of Dr. Richard Delaney and his assistants, participants exchange ideas and together uncover the child's motives for the behavior, then brainstorm ideas to help the family. Workshops on Anger and Lying are currently available and more are in various stages of research or production.

FosterParentCollege.com provides interactive online training for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents. There are 39 courses available online at this time. Titles include Substance-Exposed Infants, Child Abuse and Neglect, Grief and Loss in the Care System, Culturally Competent Parenting, Caring for Children Who Have Been Sexually Abused, and Child Safety and Supervision.

FosterParentCollege.com is:

  • Rated by the California Evidence-based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare
  • Endorsed by the NFPA, the Foster Family-based Treatment Association and the Canadian Foster Family Association
