Autism: A Strength-Based Approach

Children with autism and children in care often exhibit similar behaviors. It’s important for parents to recognize the differences, so children on the spectrum can be diagnosed early and accurately. This class explores autism, how to identify autism in children, and how to support children with autism and encourage their strengths and abilities.

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • describe autism and its causes
  • identify the characteristics and behaviors of children with autism
  • know what services and treatments are available to children with autism
  • understand how to manage challenging behaviors
  • understand how to support and encourage children with autism
  • describe common medical issues among children with autism
4 credit hours, $20.00 per person.
