Latest FosterParentCollege.com® Course Tackles Childhood Anxiety Disorders
October 29, 2007
Eugene, OR - FosterParentCollege.com® (FPC) today launched its 20th feature training course for foster and adoptive parents via the World Wide Web. The latest course,
Childhood Anxiety Disorders, features noted pediatric psychiatrist Dr. James Kagan with a panel of foster parents as they discuss and consider treatments for their foster children of all ages.
Disorders discussed include separation anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and other childhood worries. Dr. Kagan considers each child's issues and discusses professional therapeutic counseling, psychotherapy and medication options that are available for children and adolescents.
At the end of this course, parents should be able to:
- identify symptoms and causes of anxiety disorders
- list types of anxiety disorders
- identify emotional symptoms that may be signs of an anxiety disorder
- describe steps that can be taken to help children with anxiety disorders
- identify treatment options for children with anxiety disorders
FosterParentCollege.com® creates its courses using a research-based visual learning model for more effective training and knowledge retention. Multimedia components - including video, stop-action animation, audio, images and graphics - bring reality and immediacy to lessons otherwise unavailable in traditional distance learning or video courses. An interactive Q&A section, downloadable handouts and a final examination complete the FPC course materials.
Recently added foster parent training modules include courses on visitation with birth parents and working with schools. FPC courses are also available on DVD for social services agencies' in-house training. Visit
